DESCRIPTION: This course is for a therapist (RT/PT/PTA/OT/COTA) or other aquatic professionals who works with clients in a community pool environment. Participants will learn preventative measures when working with a community aquatics client and how to follow up properly if an incident occurs in the community.

OBJECTIVES:
1. Participants will be able to understand case information necessary for new aquatics referral, prior to treatment or services.
2. Participants will learn what types of insurances to protect you as a provider and when you should get them.
3. Participants will understand elements of an emergency action plan pool plan.
4. Participants will learn different elements of safety hazards in the pool environment, locker room and deck.
5. Participants will learn how to complete safe client transfers with pool lifts and other types of pool entry.
6. Participants will learn how to safely transition a client to a caregiver.
7. Participants will learn how follow up if an incident or emergency situation occurs. Lifeguarding lifesaving demonstration will occur.

COURSE INFORMATION: The American Red Cross blended learning CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers course will help prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants. The eLearning portion of this class is scenario based and will introduce you to the skills that you will practice and master during the in-person skill session. Allow approximately 3 hours to complete the eLearning portion, including the final exam. The eLearning portion of the course must be completed prior to attending the in-person skill session.

Successful completion of this eLearning content alone will not result in certification. This eLearning content must be taken in conjunction with at least 3 hours of in-person training and evaluation led by an American Red Cross Instructor. To earn certification, participants must:

Complete all eLearning modules and present proof of completion before beginning the in-person skill session.
Attend and actively participate in all class sessions.
Demonstrate competency in all required skills.
Pass the final written exam in the eLearning conclusion module with a minimum grade of 80% or better.
Pass the final skill scenario.

COURSE INFORMATION:  This course is adapted to meet the skillset and education of the aquatic therapist and professional. The American Red Cross blended learning lifeguarding course will prepare you to prevent, recognize and respond to emergencies in and around the water. The eLearning portion of this class is scenario based and will introduce you to the skills that you will practice and master during the in-person skill sessions. Allow approximately 7 hours to complete the eLearning portion, including the final eLearning exam. Your instructor should provide eLearning module assignments as well as reading and review question assignments from the Lifeguarding Manual. You must complete these assignments and present proof of completion to enter the in-person skill sessions.

Successful completion of this eLearning content alone will not result in certification. This eLearning content must be taken in conjunction with at least 19 hours and 45 minutes of in-person training and evaluation led by an American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor. To earn certification, participants must:

Meet the age requirement – 15 years old on or before the final scheduled in-person session of the course.
Pass the precourse swimming skills evaluation.
Attend and actively participate in all class sessions.
Demonstrate competency in all required skills.
Complete all eLearning modules and reading assignments as assigned by the instructor.
Pass both final exams with a minimum grade of 80%.
Pass both final skill scenarios.
